IVA Islington Volunteering Association

What is the IVA?

The Islington Volunteering Association (IVA) exists to give a representative voice for volunteering within the borough. The IVA represents volunteering on the Islington Community Network Committee. The IVA is open to all organisations within the borough who work with volunteers, whether this is by matching volunteers to opportunities or involving them directly in the work of the organisation.

We aim to:

  • Clarify and develop the volunteering infrastructure within the borough.
  • Promote volunteering locally by widening the number and variety of volunteering opportunities available and increasing the number and diversity of volunteers across Islington.
  • Promote volunteering best practice.
  • Forge links between member organisations to consider joint working and potential funding opportunities.
  • Support the promotion of youth volunteering and help the borough to prepare for the recommendations of the Russell Commission.

What does being a member of the IVA mean?

The IVA offers the following benefits to its members:

  • Opportunities for networking and joint working.
  • Information about funding.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a coherent voice for volunteering across the borough.

…and more. The IVA exists to achieve things for its members – as the membership develops so will the capacity of the IVA.

How does this happen?

The IVA meets once every two months to discuss issues relevant to its members. All IVA members are welcome to add items to the agenda. Minutes of previous meetings are available to download in the Meetings section of the website.

How can I join?
